Easterseals West Kentucky Child Development Center Awaiting License Reinstatement
PADUCAH — The Easterseals West Kentucky Child Development Center is still awaiting the reinstatement of its child care center license from the Division of Regulated Child Care. The suspension followed an incident where a child was left unsupervised for 12 minutes, prompting a swift response from the facility.
President Danny Carroll confirmed that a plan of corrections was submitted Tuesday, including revisions requested by the Division. “We added specifics to our policies, particularly on how we manage classroom transitions,” Carroll remarked. The updated procedure mandates that staff verify each child’s presence both before leaving the classroom and upon arrival at their destination.
Easterseals is committed to prioritizing child safety, with Carroll emphasizing their proactive reporting of even minor incidents to ensure compliance with regulations. He added that the center considers its history and past incidents when deciding on corrective actions.
Carroll noted that if parents do not receive an email by 9 p.m. Wednesday, the center will remain closed the following day. Staff will be available should the license be reinstated. The situation remains fluid as the center awaits further communication from the Division.
