Officer-Involved Shooting in Knox County Under Investigation
GREEN ROAD, Ky. (April 30, 2025) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 10 Harlan responded to a critical incident late on April 29, involving an officer-involved shooting on Sugar Maple Drive in Knox County. The call for assistance originated from Knox County Dispatch, who reported that a woman had barricaded herself inside her home, threatening suicide.
Upon arrival, deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) attempted to engage with the barricaded individual, later identified as 53-year-old Daisy Allen. During initial contact, deputies were sprayed with an unknown substance, requiring aftercare due to respiratory irritation. Despite deploying non-lethal measures, including a taser and pepper spray, deputies faced escalating threats, prompting one deputy to discharge their service weapon. Allen was struck in the abdomen and subsequently transported to UK Healthcare Albert B. Chandler Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
No deputies sustained injuries from the incident, but all required medical evaluation for the substance exposure. The investigation, led by Trooper Sgt. Sturgill, continues as KSP emphasizes its commitment to transparency while maintaining investigative integrity. Further details will be released following witness interviews.
