South Carolina Drops Series Finale Against Kentucky
South Carolina aimed for a second consecutive SEC series victory after tying the series with a win in Saturday’s doubleheader. However, Kentucky had other plans, taking control in Sunday’s finale. Senior pitcher Dylan Eskew made his second start since an injury sidelined him during warmups against Arkansas. He pitched just over three innings, allowing two runs on three hits and recording three strikeouts.
The Gamecocks struggled on the mound, using seven pitchers in total, with Jackson Soucie giving up four runs without recording an out. The team collectively surrendered 11 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits. Offensively, South Carolina had five players contribute RBIs, with Gavin Braland opening the scoring by driving in Will Tippett in the third inning. Nathan Hall, Dalton Mashore, KJ Scobey, and Cayden Gaskin also added to the team’s effort.
The Gamecocks finished the game with a batting average of .305, going 11-for-36 at the plate. Looking ahead, South Carolina will return home to face Charleston Southern on Tuesday, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM ET.
