Bell County native, Justice Laurance VanMeter, has been sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court, making him the head of the state’s court system. VanMeter was born and raised in Bell County and has a long history of serving in the legal field in Kentucky.
VanMeter’s appointment as Chief Justice comes after former Chief Justice John D. Minton Jr. retired. VanMeter has served on the Kentucky Supreme Court since 2017 and has been praised for his commitment to upholding the law and ensuring justice is served.
In his new role, VanMeter will oversee the administration of the state’s court system and work to ensure that the judiciary serves the people of Kentucky efficiently and effectively.
