Kentucky’s top remaining portal target, Sam Houston State transfer Lamar Wilkerson, has made his decision – he will not be joining the Wildcats. After narrowing down his list to Kentucky and Indiana, Wilkerson ultimately chose the Hoosiers over the Wildcats. The standout guard cited feeling at home at Indiana and wanting to help bring Hoosier basketball back as reasons for his decision. Kentucky now must regroup after missing out on Wilkerson, who had an impressive season with averages of 20.5 points per game, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest. Despite missing out on Wilkerson, Kentucky previously had to shift their focus from other top targets such as Wesley Yates III and Jaron Pierre Jr. as Wilkerson emerged as their No. 1 priority. It remains to be seen who they will pursue next as they go back to the drawing board in their recruitment efforts.
